A meeting "In honor of Paulina"

Visiting New York artist Michelle Levy and Warsaw-based artist Patrycja Dołowy invite you to an evening of breaking bread, sharing, and discussion inspired by a special story that has brought them together.

In 1945, Paulina Hirsch gave a witness testimony depicting her account as an unaccompanied Polish-Jewish woman traveling illegally throughout Nazi-and Soviet-occupied Poland. The places where she lived and worked and the names of the people she encountered are given in great detail, but who she was remains a mystery. The notetaker's introduction begins, "She is

Michelle was researching her grandmother's family at the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw when Paulina's story found her. She asked Patrycja to help her translate it.
These two storytellers became instantly captivated by what lay behind the text. They think you will too.
